Idol.
"There are some ten different Hebrew words so translated in the KJV, representing the various kinds of objects of worship among heathen nations. Idolatry generally meant nature worship in one form or another; e.g., in Egypt the chief objects of worship were the sun and other heavenly bodies, the Nile, and sacred animals, especially the bull. Ra, the sun god, was the active power in creation and giver of life. Among the nations of Canaan and W. Syria Baal was the sun god or source of life, and Ashtoreth was the corresponding female deity. In addition each nation had its own peculiar god to whom it ascribed its prosperity and misfortunes." -Bible Dictionary
Does anybody else think that God's got a wonderful sense of humor about the Global Warming conferences? In Copenhagen they got record snow before and during the conference. There was a blizzard on our East Coast making it hard for our government officials and 'scientists' to get to Copenhagen in the first place. So the Global Warming conference planners got smart and moved the next one to Cancun. And now there are record low temperatures in Cancun. I love it!

I love it when reality strikes back!
ReplyDeleteA lot of times it seems like the envirokooks worship things in nature (or Gaia, or whatever), but when it comes right down to it, they worship themselves. Self-absorbed emotionalism is the core doctrine.
ReplyDeletePlus, they're really, really weird.
And kind of smelly.
Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteHigher temperatures increase the amount of moisture in the air, which leads to harsher winters. Simple climate science.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, Jessie.
ReplyDeleteOne pesky question for you, though: Considering that the temperature readings have shown cooling rather than warming for the last few years,(since 1998 actually), how could a rise in temperature be creating the harsher winters when there has been no rise in temperature? The measurable facts render that assertion mute. Even the global warming scientists are starting to say things like, "global warming is only fending off a new ice age" because the temperature readings don't match the "science" of CO2 induced global warming.
Now, to be frank with you, I think the real climate change deniers are the ones who think that the climate didn't change before the Industrial Revolution- the ones who blame humans for what volcanoes, the tilt of the earth's axis, and the sun have been doing to the climate for millennia. The climate is never in a state of constancy, and it has never been. Trying to place blame on humans for the fact the the climate changes, something which preceded them, is asinine.
The problem is not that the climate changes, warms and cools, but that there is an agenda beyond that which us "deniers" are against. Global warming has become a political game, and the players have now admitted that climate legislation is less about the climate and more about redistribution of wealth through climate exchanges which send US money to other countries, and creating a global legal system to rule over industrialization. The actual reality isn't important when someone has money and/or power to gain.
The climate changes. Nobody doubts that.
We're just not responsible for it.
